The Full Moon Libra is always a special one. As the first Full Moon to occur after the Vernal Equinox (otherwise known as the first day of Spring!) this lunar phase marks the week of the Jewish festival, Passover, and it is also used to determine the date of the Christian holiday, Easter, as a result, while the ancient pagans used this day to celebrate the rebirth of the Earth. This Full Moon is also known by some as "The Pink Moon," reportedly due to its association with early spring wildflowers and/or the herb moss pink. Personally, I think this name is slightly misleading (...at least, when used by media companies in the context of an eye-catching headline...) as it essentially causes people to think that the Full Moon will literally turn a rare shade of pink (...which if it does, cool but from what I read, that's not what it actually means).
HOWEVER, April 2025's Full Moon in Libra truly is a particular special one for other reasons; astrological reasons. Libra's ruling planet, Venus, named after the Roman Goddess of Love & Beauty, has been Retrograde since March 1st, but it will station Direct during the Full Moon, literally only 40 minutes after the Full Moon in Libra goes exact. This essentially means that the Full Moon will be inherently connected with Venus's transit Retrograde, and with its ruler, Venus, stationing Direct, at the same time, in Pisces, the sign of its exaltation, this Full Moon in Libra will help us to find a newfound clarity in our relationships. As the first Full Moon of Spring, perhaps, our appreciation for love & beauty will be renewed, and our love for our love ones reawakened, in a way that's analogous to the renewal of nature's beauty on earth with the rebirth of the Sun, or maybe even like Jesus rising from the dead. This comment does not come from a blasphemous place but instead, arises from a place of wonder at the harmony found in God's creation, the synchronicity witnessed in Nature even if you're an atheist, a very fitting feeling to have with the Full Moon in Libra, the sign of balance & harmony itself!

Full Moon in Libra
The Full Moon represents the peak or climax of the Lunar Cycle, when the Moon is exactly opposite the Sun on the zodiacal wheel. The opposition between the two luminaries serves to highlight any opposing forces in your life, making it a good time for integrating any existing polarities. In other words, Full Moons are about balance and wholeness, as shown by the full circle visible in the night sky. It's a time when manifestations come to fruition and goals are achieved, especially those that were set at the New Moon two weeks before it, or in the same sign, six months prior. It's also a time for gaining clarity and deeper understanding, shining light on what is hidden, just as the Sun shines light on the Moon. The Moon's connection with emotions, the mysterious and irrational has led the Full Moon to become associated with unexpected events and strange behavior throughout history. There are many things we can say about the Full Moon but ultimately, it is a time for shedding light on the darkness.
The Full Moon on April 12th, 2025 (at 8:22 PM) places an even stronger emphasis on balance, because it takes place at 23'19° Libra, sign of the scales. In contrast to the strength and valor of the Sun in Aries, a Mars-ruled fire sign, the Moon in this Venus-ruled air sign is a symbol of peace, harmony and connection, especially within our relationships. Essentially, the Moon in Libra seeks to relate, to find the commonalities hidden beneath what on the surface seems different. More than that, it seeks to integrate. As an air sign, it is connected with ideas and ideals, whether that applies to aesthetic beauty or social values such as truth & justice. The sign of the ram, on the other hand, is more about action: don't just think, let's do it. The Full Moon sheds light on any conflict between these two modes of being, essentially helping us to bring our ideals, our feelings & our ideas (represented by the Moon in Libra) into actual alignment with our actions, behaviors & doings, especially in the realm of relationships, where any misalignment between these two principles can quickly become a source of heavy conflict.

The Full Moon at 23'19° Libra is influenced by its alignment with the fixed star, Spica. This star, whose name translates to "The Ear of Grain" in Ancient Roman, is a first magnitude binary star system located in the wheat (or corn or whatever you want to call it) held by the woman in the Virgo constellation, the same woman thought to be carrying the scales of Libra with her other hand. Astrologers have variably associated with Jupiter, Venus, Mercury and sometimes, Mars too, as Venus's consort. These ancient astrologers were (at least to my knowledge) all in agreement, however, that this star carries a very fortunate influence and many even consider it to be the luckiest star in all the Heavens. Spica is pretty much unanimously considered an indicator of success, honor, and riches, especially connected to the arts & sciences. While it has been associated with injustice to the innocence, this has usually been with justification & renown later on. Those born under this star are usually said to possess good judgment, a strong mind, a sweet disposition and an appreciation for culture & academics. So, ultimately, the Full Moon's alignment with Spica is a very good sign, allowing us to reap the rewards of our hard work we have sewn, like the maiden reaps the crop that has sprouted from the seeds she has planted.
The Full Moon in Libra is further influenced by an opposition to Chiron at 23'00° Aries, with the asteroid or minor planet in close conjunction with the Sun. Chiron is known as "the wounded healer" and does carry an association with illness & pain, but equally, it is connected to themes of health, wellbeing and transmutation, as well. With this in mind, it is very possible that, especially combined with the Venus Retrograde, this Full Moon could shed light on some painful, harsh, maybe even sickening, truths. This could be revelations concerning our relationships, themes of love & beauty and/or perhaps a misalignment between the ideals we hold and the actions we actually take. However, this knowledge is an important first step to acting anew. Essentially, this aspect helps us to transform our pain into gain. We may have a better idea now of where & how to direct the wisdom gleaned from the challenges we have faced, and clarity on what decisions to take.

Other aspects include a separating trine from Jupiter at 17'58° Gemini and a square to Aries ruling planet, Mars, at 27'55° Cancer, the sign of its fall. While the Full Moon's trine to the planet of growth & good luck is likely to bring about welcome feelings of happiness and joy, it is possible that the latter aspect could be a source of conflict for some. This could, for example, take the form of arguments, perhaps due to feelings that have been kept in only to build up over time, possibly for the sake of "keeping the peace" but that's the thing to be aware of with this particular combination of energies: when we hide the truth of how we feel (whether from others or even ourselves) for the sake of relationship harmony, disharmony often becomes the result, which is yet another reason why it is so important to have balance, true balance. In any case, while for some people, the square from Mars can indicate a feeling of being shocked or thrown off course by some truths told by this Full Moon, the trine to Jupiter, nevertheless, remains a mitigating factor, helping us to keep a positive attitude that will allow us to see the clarity that comes from this bluntness & grow from it.
Lastly, it is important to note this Full Moon's connection to Eclipse Season, another factor that makes this particular Full Moon in Libra of a particularly special importance. As stated in the beginning of this article, a Full Moon is always connected to the New Moon before it, and our last New Moon was actually the Solar Eclipse in Aries on March 29th. This Solar Eclipse represented the end of one cycle and the beginning of a new one, as it was the last to occur on the Aries/Libra axis now that the North & South Node have moved on to the signs of Pisces & Virgo. The Full Moon in Libra's connection to this eclipse suggests that it may serve as one last chance to close out whatever chapter in our lives was represented by this cycle of eclipses, a final opportunity for fully integrating those lessons.

Venus Direct in Pisces (& later Aries)
Libra's ruling planet, Venus, will station Direct in Pisces, the sign of its exaltation, only 40 minutes after the Full Moon, another sign of clarity being brought to our relationships. After retrograding through the signs of Aries & Pisces sing March 1st, Venus will be moving forward again at 24'37° of the fish. This change will help us to put the lessons we learned during the retrograde period into practice. This is when Venus can finally shine in Pisces, as a symbol of universal love & compassion, or the beauty & oneness of a soulmate connection, rather than a symbol of deluded illusion & pining for whatever it is we don't have to avoid the real work of caring for what we do.
Venus will be conjunct Saturn at 25'54° Pisces so that escapism will no longer be an option, but perhaps, the Venus-Saturn conjunction in Pisces can show us that there is beauty to be found in the work itself, even if it can be a bit challenging sometimes. After all, a reward is even more rewarding when we know that we have earned it. This aspect is especially interesting to consider since it occurs during the Full Moon in Libra; a sign ruled by Venus and exalted by Saturn. Despite its nickname as "the great malefic" Saturn is actually really beneficial for couples, especially when Venus is involved. In fact, the association of Saturn with marriage is the reason why we wear wedding rings, because the planet also has rings! Saturn's conjunction to Venus is a strong indicator of commitment and long-term devotion, of stability and permanency, even more so when in the unconditionally-loving, boundless, sign of Pisces. The Libra Full Moon shows that perhaps there is a difficult decision to make, now that we have this clarity, and Venus's conjunction to Saturn tells us that this decision will be one that there's likely no going back from. Relationships that begin now are likely to last long-term, possibly even for eternity, when in such a spiritual sign.

Then, Venus will be conjunct the North Node at 27'20° Pisces, another sign for spiritual bonds, but also, another indicator of challenging karmic relations. Like with Saturn, it can be either/or. This combination of energies shows that, if going through something hard (like a break up) it will ultimately (like from a spiritual perspective) be for the best, even if it doesn't seem like it at the time, and there will be lessons to learn from it. But if not, if a new connection begins, it may be a real soulmate, a love that transcends time & space, non-linear & non-local, something not only karmic but cosmic.
Venus will, soon after, conjunct Mercury at 28'09° of the mutable water sign. This is interesting because Mercury, like Venus, very recently, completed its own retrograde journey through the signs of Aries and Pisces, a journey it started on March 15th, although it also completed its journey before Venus did, on April 7th 2025 to be exact. That said, Mercury is still detriment when in Pisces, a sign associated with fogginess and confusion in contrast to the clear-minded, logical nature that Mercury is comfortable with, but Mercury in Pisces does have its own benefits i.e. a telepathic nature and a surrealistic sort of creativity, allowing the imagination to take free reign. The combination of recent retrogrades involving both Mercury and Venus in the same signs suggests that miscommunication may have been a major issue affecting our personal relationships in recent times. However, now that both planets are direct, perhaps it is a good time to say what we really need to say, to speak from the heart and allow our deepest emotions to pour out directly.
Lastly, Venus's station Direct in Pisces will be almost exactly opposite the Lunar Eclipse at 23'56° Virgo, or in other words, the last Full Moon. This is interesting, as it is yet again, one other thing connecting this Full Moon in Libra to the broader eclipse season preceding it. It is possible that any emotions experienced during the Lunar Eclipse in Virgo may, once again, be triggered now, but Venus's station Direct, along with the light shining from the Full Moon in Libra, suggests we have a better idea of a good solution on how to move forward.

Conclusion
It is important to note that lunations and transits do not affect everyone the same way or to the same degree. To learn more about how it will affect you personally, you want to look at what house Libra, Aries & Pisces are in your birth chart. To learn more, you can also schedule a reading with me here. That said, those with placements between 18 & 28 degrees of the cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn) are most likely to be affected by the Full Moon while those with placements between 20 & 29 degrees of the mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces) are most likely to be affected by Venus's stations Direct.
Essentially, this transit is about bringing clarity in our relationships, clarity related to themes of love & beauty. The fact that both the Libra Moon and its ruler, Venus Direct, in Pisces, occurs on the same day, is especially significant, and a good sign for relationships of all kinds, as well as for those looking for love and beauty.
