Introduction
From an astrologer's perspective, eclipses are not only cool to look at, but powerful indicators of fatalistic events & major changes. Traditionally, they were most often used to predict political and worldly affairs, such as the fate of entire nations, but they can affect individuals too, or at least those whose charts are affected by its power.
All eclipses happen in cycles. March 2025's eclipse season began with a Lunar Eclipse in Virgo on March 14th, 2025. This will be followed by a Solar Eclipse in Aries on March 29th, which will finish off the series of eclipses we had over the last two years when the North & South Node were in the signs of Aries & Libra. Now that the nodes, which are always inherently involved in eclipses, have moved into the signs of Pisces & Virgo, a new theme is initiated, possibly related to the last series of Virgo/Pisces eclipses we had between October 2015 & May 2017. While the first eclipse in this cycle has already occurred, at the time of my writing this, it is important to remember that the effects of an eclipse lasts for about six months, when the next season of eclipses will begin, or sometimes even longer. Meanwhile, the themes of the October 2024 eclipse season will also be relevant, as we bring that chapter to a beautiful & meaningful close.

Lunar Eclipse in Virgo: March 14th, 2025
On Friday, March 14th, 2025, we had a total Lunar Eclipse at 23'56° Virgo. All lunar eclipses take place on the Full Moon, which from an astrological perspective, represents a continuation or climax of the themes that took place on the New Moon before it. A Lunar Eclipse is often said to behave like a very strong Full Moon, bringing about fated events of a more emotional nature. Traditionally, they were believed to have a strong effect on the queen or female leader but some believed it to have an effect on the county's people, as well.
This particular Lunar Eclipse was a "blood moon," i.e. the Full Moon in Virgo, opposite the Sun in Pisces, transformed into a blood red, a color that would've likely scared our ancient ancestors. In fact, the blood moon is mentioned multiple times in the bible, including Revelation 6:12, leading many Christians to interpret it as a sign of the End Times. While it is important to maintain a rational mind and acknowledge that there have been many blood moons since the bible was written, astrologically, they can be seen as symbolizing an "ending" of sorts. The bold red color essentially amplifies the heightened emotions and the climactic, even straight-up apocalyptic (because remember, the word "apocalypse" can really be translated as "an unveiling of truth) nature of the eclipse.

The Full Moon in Virgo is conjunct the South Node too, another point often associated with endings. So, more specifically, considering the nature of this mutable, Mercury-ruled earth sign, it could be that our tendency to over-think, over-analyze, distrusting our intuition in favor of our rational mind, causing us to manifest our anxieties is what's coming to an end. It's about time we say goodbye to irrational (Moon) order (Virgo), nonsensical rules and BS categorizations. With the Sun conjunct the North Node at 27'23° Pisces, it's time to allow the light of our souls to shine, time for the spiritual to shine bright. Meanwhile, with Saturn at 22'19° of the fish conjunct the Sun, as well, this may manifest as a sort of organized chaos. Pisces' modern ruler, Neptune, involved at 29'23° , about to enter Aries soon, it's like the old structures (Saturn) are dissolving (Neptune) drowning in the waters of Pisces to make way for a new beginning. These aspects essentially form a container for our deepest dreams to materialize, the structure needed for the things we imagined to manifest into reality. The veil is thin and the lines we normally draw between "fantasy" and "reality", "spiritual" and "material", "intuition" and "logic" is becoming blurrier by the second.
Other aspects include the Moon in Virgo's trine to Uranus at 24'02° /and the Sun's trine to Mars, now direct, at 18'53° Cancer. This Moon-Uranus trine is a very freeing aspect, liberating us from emotions that no longer serve us. It is also a very creative one, and one way to heal & cleanse ourselves of negative emotions is, rather ironically, by giving them into a physical form (i.e. earth signs) through art or music, basically purging them and transmuting them into something beautiful. This aspect also suggests that the Lunar Eclipse may have brought about (or bring about) some surprises, but don't worry, as this will be a good surprise, like the kind you receive on your birthday. Meanwhile, the Sun-Mars trine is a symbol of strength and resilience, particularly on the emotional and/or spiritual level. These two aspects (which also manifest in a three sextiles) are inherently connected and essentially go hand-in-hand.

Meanwhile, Venus Retrograde was also in Aries and conjunct Virgo's ruling planet, Mercury, which was about to go Retrograde at this time, essentially connecting Mercury's entire retrograde period with the themes of this eclipse. Mercury's Retrograde period will likely allow us to examine and reflect on whatever truths were revealed to us then. The conjunction between Venus RX and Mercury in Aries is a symbol of blunt but loving communication, allowing us to have those harsh, direct, difficult but necessary conversations in order for a relationship to flourish. For some, this could be closing out a chapter with an ex-something while for others it may be about getting clarity on a past conflict and letting the relationship grow from it. The sextile to Pisces' ruling planet, the great benefic, Jupiter, at 13'34° Gemini, is very positive, a symbol of learning & growth gained through communication. This definitely helps to make these "difficult" conversations "easier" and more productive. I think the rulers of the Moon and Sun being in harmonious aspect to each other is also a symbol of harmony and balance between these two energies: the spiritual and the material, the emotional and the logical etc. need not be in opposition to each other, as they are really two sides of the same coin.
Intentions we set during the New Moon in Pisces on February 27th may have come into fruition then, or certain themes may have repeated themselves. However, these themes would also be connected to the entire eclipse season as a whole so it's definitely possible that these intentions may manifest later on.

Solar Eclipse in Aries: March 29th, 2025
On Saturday, March 29th, 2025, we will have a partial solar eclipse at 9'00° Aries, sign of the ram. A solar eclipse occurs when the Sun's light is blocked out by the Moon, causing it to black out. Solar eclipses always happen on a New Moon, leading most modern astrologers to interpret it as a good time for new beginnings and fresh starters, like a normal new moon but more extreme. In ancient times, however, the solar eclipse was interpreted as a more negative omen, particularly for kings and other powerful male figures, due to the frightening nature of its appearance. In all honesty, I see no reason to think these two interpretations are mutually exclusive. What's a curse for a cruel king is usually a blessing for the people, and while I, a woman whose place on the social ladder is quite far from that of a queen, can (through experience) personally attest to the negative nature of a solar eclipse, I am also aware that every ending, no matter how sad or scary it may be, leads to a new beginning of its own. In any case, no matter how you look at it, the Solar Eclipse is certainly a sign of major transformation and change. While out-of-sign, it is important to note that this is still essentially a "North Node" eclipse, as the North Node has recently just left Aries for the sign of Pisces.
The New Moon will block out the Sun's light at 9'00° Aries, conjunct the star Algenib in the Pegasus constellation. This fixed star, found on the tip of the horse's wing, is of the nature of Mercury & Mars, and traditionally, an indicator of dishonor, misfortune, violence and notoriety, but also, popularity, a strong will, fighting spirit and a gift for writing and/or speaking. When you learn about the role of Pegasus in Greek mythology, these significations make sense, as the Greek hero, Belleprophon (or Perseus, depending on which version of the myth you subscribe to) rode this winged horse off to Mount Olympus, home of the Gods, after letting the fame he won for defeating the chimera (or Medusa, again depending on which version of the myth you subscribe to) get to his head, only to anger Zeus, who caused him to fall off by striking him with a lightning bolt. The ram's qualities of arrogance, impulsivity, poor judgment and reckless ambition are magnified with the Solar Eclipse on this bright blue star. It's also interesting to note that this New Moon is only one degree away from where Venus stationed Retrograde, making love, beauty, reflection on past relationships, and perhaps, impulsivity in these areas, another important theme of this eclipse. Meanwhile, Mercury will also be Retrograde at 0'29° Aries, a symbol of reflection on the past, particularly past miscommunications, and clarifying conversations, giving us the closure needed to make a fresh start and begin anew.

However, Venus Retrograde will now be at 28'49° Pisces, leaving the sign of its detriment for the sign of its exaltation. When the planet of love & beauty enters this mutable water sign, it becomes a symbol of unconditional love, universal compassion and the union of soulmates. While the retrograde motion could represent a reunion with someone from our past, maybe a past life or our former existence in Heaven, it could also lead to a more deceptive former of idealization, so it's important to use discernment and choose wisely. That said, I honestly do prefer the more positive interpretation, as in, I am convinced it could be true. Even when retrograde, Venus in Pisces is still exalted and wedged right in between an applying conjunction with the North Node at 27'26° and a separating conjunction to Neptune at 29'58°, spiritual themes are highlighted, including the reunion of soulmates. This also includes themes of oneness, empathy, karma, past lives, redemption and forgiveness, a releasing of the past to make room for the new. It will also be widely conjunct Saturn at 24'11°, with Mars (ruler of the sign of Aries) at 22'47°. Even though Mars in Cancer is detriment, which could indicate some kind of surrender, maybe, considering that Saturn and Mars are both action-orientated planets, to me, it could potentially indicate our wildest dreams and fantasies manifesting into a more concrete, material form.
Additional aspects made by the New Moon/Solar Eclipse in Aries include a (wide) sextile to Jupiter at 15'35° Gemini and another (again, kind of wide) sextile to Pluto at 3'31° Aquarius. This is a good aspect for learning, expansion & growth (significations of the great benefic, Jupiter) gained through deep introspection, exploration of the subconscious, and intimacy with others (significations of the former-planet, Pluto). These are both very positive aspects and considering their sign planets, they might carry a positive revolutionary potential. Considering their placement in air signs, they highlight the importance of communication with other human beings and community relations.

In any case, Aries is a cardinal fire sign associated with qualities of boldness, courage, independence and an energetic & enterprising nature. The sign of the ram is ruled by Mars, so it is also associated with aggression & conflict. So it is important to keep in mind that on a global scale, themes of war and peace may be highlighted, while on a personal level, we may learn to feel more confident in ourselves, relying less on others to give us validation. Again, on a global scale, I can maybe see this representing the people taking charge, taking to the streets to fight the powerful and become our own rulers.
Perhaps this is a war on the ultra-wealthy, an attack on the ruling class. The Sun represents the King, right? and the Moon represents the people? So, the way I see it, on this date, the people have the power and the king's control is coming to an end. While new moons, including solar eclipses, already represent new beginnings, its placement in Aries makes this rebirth even more likely, as its generally thought of as the "first sign of the zodiac" due to its solar transit marking the rebirth of the Sun at the Spring Equinox.

Conclusion
It is important to note that eclipses do not affect everyone in the same way, or to the same degree. So if you question how an event that happens every six months can be so transformational, you are absolutely right. On an individual level, you are more likely to be affected by an eclipse if it closely aspects an important point in your birth chart, whether it be an angle, a luminary or a planet. In the case of the most recent lunar eclipse, those with placements between roughly 18 and 29 degrees of the mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces) are likely to be most affected, while the upcoming solar eclipse is most likely to affect those with placements between 4 and 14 degrees of the cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn). Furthermore, how it affects you depends on what placements it aspects, as well as what house it is transiting in your birth chart. To learn more about how these eclipses may affect you personally, feel free to schedule a reading with me by clicking here (but I suggest that you please book at least 3 days in advance so I have time to confirm/prepare).
The same is true for nations. On a global scale, an eclipse is believed to have the strongest effect on the areas in the world where it is visible. In the case of the Lunar Eclipse in Virgo, these areas include both North and South America, as well as most of Europe and West Africa. In contrast, Asia, Australia, the Easternmost parts of Africa, Antarctica and most of the Middle East and Russia are less affected. The Solar Eclipse in Aries, on the other hand, will be seen from North Russia, Europe, North-West Africa and North-East North America, having the most significant influence on these parts of the world.
The influence of March's eclipse season should last for about six months, up until the next eclipse season, which will take place in September 2025, with another total Lunar Eclipse on September 7th, this time in Pisces, and another partial solar eclipse on September 21st, this time in Virgo. However, it is possible that any intentions set around the time of the soon upcoming Solar Eclipse in Aries, or shortly after, may begin to see a slightly smaller manifestation by the Full Moon in Libra on April 13th 2025. In any case, this Full Moon will also be connected to the themes of these eclipses and a good time for finally wrapping up any lessons learned during the North & South Node's transit through Aries & Libra and especially the related eclipse, closing out that chapter for good, as we turn the page to a new one.
While this article may have covered many themes, the biggest takeaway I feel regarding this eclipse season is that it is a good time for clearing out the old and making way for the new. It's a good time for spring cleaning, if you will, leading way to the rebirth of the sun, also known as "sol" or the rebirth of the soul.
